As the calls begun to slow for the summer months, 16 members loaded up in the apparatus and headed to the Berks County Training Site for our bi-yearly burn session. The Brecknock firefighters are required to do a minimum of 1 burn session a year to maintain their status as an "interior firefighter". The Brecknock volunteers met up with eight members of Co. 24 (Geigertown) who was also going to join in on the burn session. Members from both companies were placed into 5 groups and rotated through different fire ground scenarios and tasks. Groups had to complete suppression, search, ventilation and RIT (Rapid Intervention Team). 3 different "burns" were completed with 2 - 4 fires on each burn. Fire were placed by the burn technicians anywhere from the basement to the 2nd floor of the burn building. All members worked very well together and a better understanding of the abilities of each company were better understood. Both companies cleared the training site by 2200hrs to return to station and place the units back in service.
