Assistance to Firefighters Grant Awarded!
Saturday, July 9th, 2016

On July 8th, 2016 the Brecknock Township Fire Company received notification from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security that we were selected to receive a Federal Grant under the Assistance to Firefighter Grant Program.
This grant, in the amount of $113,186.00 to purchase 15 new SCBA's (Self Contained Breathing Apparatus) for all the riding positions in our current fleet of apparatus.
Currently the Brecknock Twp. Fire Company is using fifteen (15) 2002 edition SCBA's that do not meet today's standards. These SCBA's will include but not limited too voice amplifiers in the face pieces, 45 minute air cylinders, R.I.T (Rapid Intervention Team) fittings, heads up display, rear buddy lights as well as buddy breathing capability. Our current SCBA's do not have many of the safety features that the new current SCBA's do.
With this grant and assistance from our grant writer, Bill VanEtten, this will allow the members of the Brecknock Township Fire Company to continue our mission of saving the lives and property of the residents we serve.
